2016-2018 In Color Swaps!

By | February 28, 2017

Every year, when the new annual Stampin’ Up! catalog comes out in June, we are excited to see what the five new colors will be for ink, cardstock and coordinating accessories. These are called the In Colors – a rotating collection that will be available for a two-year period, and then retired to make way for a new color selection.

These are the 2016-2018 In Colors:

Although we’ve had these colors available for a few months now, I just realized that I have a couple of swap cards that were made when the new catalog came out, and I haven’t shared them on the blog yet. It was obvious as I looked at them that the designers of these cards were interested in using and highlighting the new colors:

I made both of these cards at the Stampin’ Up! swap that I attended, but they were designed by other demonstrators who also constructed the card that I designed (see below.) I also used a couple of the new In Colors on my card – Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo (read more about this card here.)

A favorite motif from early colonial America was the pineapple, which signified hospitality. Susan, a friend from the 24/7 Stampers group, stamped the large pineapple image (141743) in Flirty Flamingo, set it on a background of Emerald Envy, and accented it with a gold die cut and sequins.

This next card was designed by a demonstrator in the Stampy Wackers group, using Emerald Envy and Sweet Sugarplum ink with stamps from the Painter’s Palette set (141910) and a sheet from the Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack (141657) which includes several of the 2016-2018 In Colors in its designs.

The 2016-2018 In Colors are a really pretty, fresh collection of colors that I have enjoyed working with for the past few months.

Here are the supplies that went into making the swap cards designed by my Stampin’ Up! friends:

Price: $110.00

Which of the 2016-2018 In Colors appeals to you most – or, like me, are you attracted to a couple of them together? (I think Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy are a great pair!)

Love the pink pineapple! In the UK decorative pineapples pop up in odd places, like the Wimbledon trophy, for example. Apparently here they were a symbol of great wealth a few hundred years ago. Presumably because the climate wouldn’t allow them to grow!

I didn’t know that about the Wimbledon trophy! You’d think pineapples would be a pretty exotic item even in Colonial America, but I wonder if they grew them in the Caribbean – they would have been more accessible that way.

Thanks – yes, it’s nice to stamp and share with like-minded friends!
