Although my husband and I don’t have any grandchildren, we have kids who are special to us, and making cards geared to their unique interests is a good idea for birthdays or other occasions:
One of our little friends, Elise, is turning 8 years old today, and since she had a “Hello, Kitty” birthday party yesterday, Reggie asked me to make her a card with a cat on it. I don’t think you can go wrong with a color scheme of black, white and pink, and this sweet kitty from the retired “Meow, Meow” set was just the thing for her!
Another 8-year-old, Isabelle, recently got this card for her birthday when my husband requested something with a Princess theme. He gets to know their particular interests in his role as one of their Primary teachers at church.
A friend of mine asked me to make a card for his young dinosaur-loving grandson, and I didn’t have any dinosaur stamps! So, I printed out a clip art picture of a fossil and rubber stamped the little spade, then added an embossed green background to give the impression of “dinosaur skin.”
Have fun making cards for the special kids in your life – better yet, have an “Arts & Crafts Day” at your kitchen table and make some cards with them!
