These two Thanksgiving cards arrived on the same day from a couple of sisters-in-law in Northern Vermont! The handstamped one in the foreground from Kathy is embossed with the Petal Burst folder (141493) using the retired Dusty Durango cardstock. Lori sent the commercially-produced card in the background, and as she often does, she picked something that she thought might interest me as a design idea or something that I might be able to use again in another project. So, here is what I was inspired to make after seeing this card:
This was very simple to make with the maple leaf die from my Leaflets Framelits and a 3″ x 2″ piece of Pumpkin Pie glitter paper. I also used a sentiment from the Work of Art set in Chocolate Chip ink.
If you ever want to cut only half of a die, here’s how to do it: lay your die on the cardstock on the bottom cutting pad with the die where you want it, then place the edge of the top cutting pad on the die exactly where you want the cut to end and the fold to begin (Fig. 1.) After cutting, this is what it will look like (Fig. 2.)
To make the fold, take a ruler and make a light pencil line from the top of the cut to the bottom, and then score exactly over the line. Fold back and tape a piece of glimmer paper behind the leaf opening.
Here are the supplies that I used to make my Glimmer Leaf card. Click on any picture to read more or to order online. The current Hostess Code is R6ZN2Z6V. Use it and I will send you a handstamped thank-you card that you can use again (allow demonstrator contact so I will know where to send it!)
Two beauties Valory. Love the effect with the half-die cutting.

Thank you, Flo; this was a fun one to try!
This is super. I love the look of it, the simplicity and the colours. Fabulous!
Thank you! I had seen this half-die cutting technique, but had never tried it before. I like it!
