Happy Watermelon Day!

Watermelon Card 5

Every August 3rd is designated as National Watermelon Day, so this is a perfect time to make a happy birthday card with a watermelon motif that anyone with a summer birthday would enjoy receiving!

Watermelon Card 1

You’ll need the three largest circle dies from the Circle framelits set, and the largest scalloped one is cut from a piece of 5 1/2″ Cucumber Crush card stock, scored and folded in the middle. Mark halfway down on the die with pencil and lay that on the fold before cutting in the Big Shot.  Next, cut a white circle from the next largest die and a Watermelon Wonder circle from the next size after that. Cut the circles in half, attaching one white half inside the folded green card, and one on the outside front. Put the half circle of Watermelon Wonder on top of that.

Next, punch out some small hearts from black card stock and cut them in half. Round slightly at the top with scissors and glue to the watermelon for seeds.

On a folded white card, use the long line stamp from the “Work of Art” stamp set to make a plaid tablecloth pattern with Watermelon Wonder ink. Stamp off on scrap paper each time before stamping on the card to lighten the image. Then stamp a sentiment from the “Remembering Your Birthday” stamp set and attach watermelon to card. Stamp coordinating sentiment inside.

Finish the card by attaching the “hello” die cut from the Greetings thinlits die set as shown.

I have a similar stamp set you may remember from wayyy back. It’s for long stamps with different kinds of strips you can overlap or crisscross to make a plaid.

P.S. I was in your newsletter that I won the card. Thank you.

Hi Cindy, I like stamps that can be used in lots of different ways, and the “Work of Art” set has a lot of images that are very versatile. I’ve seen the long one that I used to make the plaid table cloth made into a flag and a rainbow, but the ideas would be endless! How would you use that stamp?
