I’ll Be Home For Christmas…

By | December 22, 2016

I got a phone call from across the miles from my sister-in-law Sherry today, which was nice because she had great news for both of us about the upcoming January issue of The Stampers’ Sampler! I’ll let that news be for another day, however, because I want to show you a couple of cards that Sherry sent, one to our family and the other to my parents. Both of these cards illustrate so well Sherry’s love of home, tradition and days gone by when it comes to Christmas especially:

Sherry Fireplace

Sherry made this beautifully detailed card with the retired Festive Fireplace set from last year and the matching dies, although the fireplace and mantle die cutters are still available in the Hearth & Home Thinlits Dies set that also cuts a window and flower box (139666.) I love how she sponged the inside back of the fireplace to look sooty!

Sherry Church

This darling card arrived at my parents’ house in Auburn, CA, in the foothills of the Sierra-Nevada mountains, where they do get a dusting of snow once in a great while. But the little church is reminiscent of a cozy New England scene, something that will bring back good memories of Christmas’s past to my folks.

When we live far away, we can be home for Christmas, if only in our minds, by connecting over the miles through handmade cards or gifts, phone calls and bringing to mind the family stories that make us laugh and remember with joy the years gone by!
