Our baby grand-niece Piper will be celebrating her 1st birthday this week!
And in case you were wondering what a red fox might want to say to a little girl on her birthday:
(I computer-generated the inside sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock.)
Piper and her mom, dad and big sister Cricket live in Vermont, and we just missed seeing her when we were there last year. We had a nice long visit with Cricket and her mother, and two days after we returned home, Piper was born! Well, we will be visiting again soon, so we are looking forward to seeing both little girls and their parents.
Here are the colors that I used on Piper’s Fox card. I took my color scheme right from the A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stack.
I used the mushroom patterned paper as the main background, and then because I had a strip left over when cutting the 6″ x 6″ sheet of paper down to fit the front of the card, I turned that strip over and used the back, the gray and white vine motif, for the horizontal band behind the fox. It’s a great way to use your paper scraps, and with a Paper Stack like this one, you always know your colors will coordinate!
Another thing I want to mention is about the oval on which I placed the fox: I used the Layering Ovals Framelits; the larger one with a straight edge in Pool Party cardstock and the smaller one on top of it with a scalloped edge out of Vellum cardstock. I love the semi-sheer look that it gives to the background – really pretty!
The fox body parts are punched out with the Fox Builder Punch, then assembled, but the stump and the little word bubble are stamped and then cut out with Paper Snips; very quick.
Here are the supplies that I used to make Piper’s card. All of them are available in the big annual catalog, or by clicking on any picture and going to the online store:
Super card. Nice to go for an unusual colour scheme for a little girl too.
Thanks! Yes, it’s fun to change things up a bit.
