Once is Never Enough, With a Stamp Like You

Warm Autumn Trees

If you’re experiencing a little Deja Vu, I can explain: I have a small pile of cardstock pieces on my worktable, pieces that I’ve cut into but they’re still useful for another project, or sometimes they are the start of an idea that I’ve put aside for some reason. I refer to it lovingly as the “Mosh Pit.” When I sit down to make a new card I often stir around in the “pit” to start the inspiration flowing which is why you might notice that I will use the same colors or stamps for a few cards in a row before I switch to something new.

So  yes, this card started out looking a lot like the “Mother of Invention” Halloween card from yesterday! When I was experimenting with that card I stamped the white tree onto Early Espresso cardstock and the Crushed Curry moon but I quickly decided that I wanted a black background instead. So, the brown card front went into the pit and was pulled out today, ready for a new try.

I was actually happy to give this one a go again because I’d been thinking about how the bare-branched tree stamp from the Sheltering Tree set would coordinate well with the die-cut tree from the limited edition Beautiful Branches Thinlits set. I’m very excited about how this came out – they are a perfect pair for each other, don’t you agree?

I used a couple of the same colors on this card as I did on my Halloween card, with a few different ones:

Again, this is a pretty simple card and the “bling” is limited to a strip of 5/8″ Gold Satin Ribbon and three gold sequins – this time star-shaped.

Here are the products that I used to make my Warm Autumn Trees card. Click on any picture for a closer look or for ordering information. Just remember that the Beautiful Branches Thinlits Dies are only available through August 31st!

I love that you post several projects with the same dies/tools. Anyone buying them wants to have lots of inspiration, right? Great use of colour here, I think. To answer your question, no. I am ashamed to say I have a huge, precarious mound behind me to the right…that is the scrap pile… But, I can shut the door on it!!! Nobody need know…

Thanks, Gillian – you’re right, you want to get your money’s worth out of your tools! Speaking of that, when you mentioned our raccoons, I thought about your darling hedgehogs – which we don’t have here. If you put the search terms “Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Branches hedgehog” into Pinterest you’ll see a clever example of one made with the top of that tree die – I must try it!
