Same Card, Two Ways

By | April 8, 2017

Last fall, some of my stamping friends and I acquired a Photopolymer stamp set called Basket of Wishes (142200.) While it was definitely appropriate for Thanksgiving, with three different baskets, four images to fill them with and several all occasion greetings, this is really an all purpose set. I decided to pair it with an Easter greeting from the Suite Sentiments set in the spring Occasions catalog, making virtually the same card twice with just a few changes.

Easter Basket Pair

I used Very Vanilla cardstock as a base for both, and the same general color scheme of Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Chocolate Chip cardstocks and ink. The flowers in  both baskets were colored in with the new Watercolor Pencils (141709) activated with Blender Pens. I also used the Stitched Shapes Framelits on both – a set that I reach for again and again because the shapes are so easy to work with!

My first version of this card was a landscape orientation, using the Petal Burst Embossing Folder with Pear Pizzazz cardstock for a background, and a round shape of Melon Mambo to frame the basket. I have also used small pieces of a Lace Doily on the Vanilla side to line the basket and accent the sentiment:

Easter Basket Green

My second version of this card is a portrait orientation with a background of Daffodil Delight cardstock embossed with the Falling Petals Folder. This time the basket is framed with a circle of Pear Pizzazz.
Easter Basket Yellow
On both cards I used three small rhinestone jewels, colored with a permanent Magenta Sharpie marker – a great tip to add color to your sparkles that won’t rub off!
After stamping the basket image in Chocolate Chip ink on Soft Suede cardstock, I cut them out, including the space under the handle, so that I could insert the stamped image and doily pieces behind. I also punched a tiny hole and inserted a length of Baker’s Twine to match the background, and tied a small bow. The baskets are attached to the stitched shapes die cut circles with Stampin’ Dimensionals foam dots.

I like the Easter egg colors that I used on these cards, and that fact that the sentiment is stamped in an egg-shaped oval! Do you prefer one of these cards over the other, for color choices or orientation?

Very nice! The basket works great for Easter too. I had a good long look but honestly I don’t prefer one card over the other. Super colour choices too.
