At the end of last year Stampin’ Up! came out with a Paper Pumpkin kit designed to make a revolving calendar page for every month of the year. However, we like to customize our kits, so some of us used it to make cards instead, and it’s been fun to pick a recipient for each month, highlight their birthday on the calendar, and make that the focal point of the front.
Today is September 26th, so this card was made for Reggie’s dad – Happy Birthday, Harold Degree!
I had all of the month stamps in the kit, so I just stamped “September” at the top of the already printed calendar piece in Soft Suede ink, and then highlighted his birth date in Soft Sky ink. I trimmed down the decorated paper on the background to fit the card front, made from Basic Gray cardstock, and kept the same embellishments that were in the kit for this month, with the addition of a strip of Burlap Ribbon peeking out at the top and bottom.
Because of the dark gray card, I added a panel of Whisper White cardstock inside to include a birthday sentiment with a stamp from the Best Birds set.
Last month I made up this card for my friend Susan to commemorate her birthday on August 1st:
I cut down the patterned paper a little more so that I could double mat it with Daffodil Delight cardstock on a card made from Soft Suede. I added a few gold sequins to the front and a sentiment from the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set.
I also put a panel of Whisper White inside and added a birthday sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set.
And look! I’ve already got one ready for someone who has a birthday on October 20th!
I hope that this will give you an idea for future birthday cards that you can create, even if you don’t have a Paper Pumpkin One Great Year calendar kit. Little calendars are available at stationery stores; you could start with those and embellish to your heart’s content!
Paper Pumpkin is Stampin’ Up!’s monthly kit subscription program; every month a new kit arrives with all of the materials to make a set of cards or another fun project! And now through October 10th, first-time subscribers can buy their October kit and get their November kit free! Use code BOGO at checkout: https://mypaperpumpkin.com/en/?demoid=2065572
I love this idea. Great for anyone, but particularly men that are maybe not into sport. Super!
Thanks! Yeah, you’ve got to be thinking of something different for the guys on your list – they are often the hardest when it’s so much fun to stamp pink roses!
