One of the new Stampin’ Up! spring Occasions catalog offerings is So in Love, shown on page 52, a set that includes an outlined flower image that looks like a marigold, or a dahlia, or maybe a carnation. This set includes several sentiments that are appropriate for weddings and anniversaries, but by combining the flower image with some sentiments from the Love & Prayers set, I have created a sympathy card for a friend who recently lost her mother:
I’ve used tone-on-tone Pink Pirouette ink on the same color of cardstock to make a subtle floral background. I’ve used Soft Suede ink inside and on the front Stitched Shapes Framelit oval and for the three flowers that I stamped and fussy cut out for layering around the sentiment, two popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals, and one on the level with the oval. A narrow strip of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper on the left side completes the look.
I also have another card to share that uses the same flower image from the So in Love set, this time paired with a sentiment from the Birthday Blast set (page 11 of the Occasions catalog) proving once again that you can take a stamp set designed for one purpose, and with a switch-out of sentiments, make cards with an entirely different message!
This swapper used a small piece of Designer Series Paper from the Falling in Love pack on page 51 to decorate her card, wrapped with Very Vanilla 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon and a swirl of Gold Metallic Thread, plus the Falling Petals Embossing Folder and some Pearl Basic Jewels to make this a special card for a special person.
Here are the supplies that we used to make our alternative sentiment So in Love cards. Click on any picture for a larger image or to order. If you are ordering online, the current Hostess Code is BKQRGJWW – and remember, if you place a $50 by March 31st, you will be prompted to choose a product from the Sale-A-Bration brochure for free!
Thank you so much! I like these images too. The flower does look like it could be one of several different types. I kind of gave it the carnation treatment by using this soft pink cardstock and ink, but in order to make a marigold, I’m going to try it with dark cherry ink on a dark yellow cardstock, and see what happens!
I like these stamps – very ‘now’. The sympathy card is great. Feminine and subtle. Lovely.
