Stamping on the East Coast

By | October 11, 2016

“The funny thing is, the moment I am in one country, I am homesick for the other.”

from Grandfather’s Journey by Allen Say

I’ve been on vacation, but I’m back in California now! Just like Allen Say’s grandfather, who grew up in Japan and immigrated to San Francisco as a young man, I feel like I have two homes, so I will share with you my “other home” and introduce you to my other group of stamping friends and family in this post.

main-street-colchester

Colchester, Vermont is situated on the shores of Lake Champlain, 40 miles from the Canadian border. This is Main Street, where my mom, dad, sister and I used to live across from the Degree family and their six kids – 4 boys and 2 girls, Kathy and Sherry. Nearby lived Miss White and Grandma Sweeney; great-aunt and grandmother to Wanda and her older brother and sister.

That was decades ago when we were young and fun-loving kids! Fast forward to today, and here we are, all grown up, with a couple of additions:

Wanda, Kathy, Valory, Mindy, Sherry and Karenlee, still having fun!

A week ago we gathered at Wanda’s house (Grandma Sweeney’s cute bungalow!) for our annual Stampin’ Up! get-together.

You’ve seen all of the cards we made before on previous posts; the only difference is that we did have a chance to add some subtle color to the squash and pumpkins in the basket with blender pens and a little ink pressed from the lids of our stamp pads.

Our sister-in-law Mindy is holding Tux, who attended the party and made his favorite card choice known by pointing it out with one mittened paw!

Tux stayed for the entire party, but at one point he decided to crawl into my purse. (Maybe it was due to those tea bags I carried home one night from Kathy’s house to help me sleep; one of them contained catnip!)

I had so much fun with my East Coast stampers, I’ll be back as soon as I can!

Lol – well, I admire her way of getting from here to there; those 3,000 mile plane trips are the only thing that get me down!

And she always looks so fresh, every hair in place when she breezes in! Not my usual experience upon arrival (sigh.)
