Stamping With New Friends!

By | January 8, 2017

Some of our Stamp Group friends couldn’t make it to our first meeting of 2017, because here in Northern California it is pouring rain on our drought-stricken landscape! However, we did have a new friend join us yesterday, and we’re very happy that Idalia came to introduce herself and stamp with us using some of our new spring stamps.

Stamped with the Dragonfly Dreams (Occasions)  and the Hey, Chick! (Sale-A-Bration) sets

I’ve already shown you one card from the Dragonfly Dreams set, and I’m still using the bee image die on this latest card. (There really are dragonflies in this set, and I will be showing you some wonderful examples in a later post!)

I happen to have a lot of Daffodil Delight cardstock right now, and it was a perfect time to use it, since I made 25 of these cards for a swap recently. We used Memento Tuxedo Black ink on this card, because it is not permanent and cleans off the photopolymer stamps easily and safely with regular stamp cleaner. It was so much fun to make the copper bee and set it into the card, that I wanted to have my stamp group try making it, too. The copper foil paper is beautiful, especially set against the black, but I have a couple of tips for using it that I’d like to share.

First, when cutting out an image with a die, use as small a piece of the copper foil paper as possible. Don’t run a large piece of it through the Big Shot along with the small part that is being cut, because all of the little cutting lines on your plexiglass cutting pad will press into the copper, showing up as squiggly lines all over the excess paper, making it unusable (ask me how I know!)

Second, when using glue or adhesive with the copper foil paper, be careful not to get any of it on the shiny front of the image, because it will show prominently and be difficult to remove. However, if you do have excess glue areas on your card, you can remove them with the Adhesive Remover – it looks like a gum eraser, and really is a fantastic little tool for a very modest price.

The other card that we made is a fun one to use with blender pens for a watercoloring technique. We stamped the images on Shimmery White cardstock with Basic Black Archival Ink, which is permanent, and perfect for using with water because it won’t bleed. The Shimmery White cardstock is really pretty, and it is also a good surface for watercoloring because it doesn’t buckle or pill up like regular cardstock sometimes does.

Here is the color scheme for the Chicken & Good Egg Card:

Wow, such a fun color collection! Perfect for the whimsical images in the Hey, Chick! stamp set, which you can choose for free as a Sale-A-Bration gift with a $50 purchase.

I can’t resist anything to do with bees! The the new set I have called “Hey, Chick!” has three different hens, all as cute as can be.

Hi, sorry for missing this! I am having different WP Reader issues with my pc and my tablet thing now, which basically seems to mean I am missing even more posts! I didn’t realise this until today, I just thought everyone was busy elsewhere! So I am resolved to go visit everybody individually until it gets sorted out. It is going to take a while! Anyway, boy, do I love that chicken card! A chubby little hen is so cute, and the sentiment finishes it off beautifully!

I’m glad you like my little hen; there are a couple more chicken images in this set and they are all so whimsical! No worries; you are a most faithful commenter, and I am quite behind myself keeping up with the blogs and putting out posts. I’m a substitute teacher and I usually work 2-3 days a week, but right after Christmas I was asked to do a 6-week long-term assignment for a teacher who broke his arm (while skateboarding!) I love my job, but it puts a crimp in my crafty schedule 🙂
