Ok, I have to admit, this was really fun… yesterday afternoon I made a Valentine card (the one on the right with the dragonflies) and about an hour later, I got a Valentine card in the mailbox (the one on the left) from SIL Sherry.
It wasn’t until I had looked at both of these cards for a while that I realized, entirely by chance, Sherry and I did some very similar things with our cards!
First of all, we used the same color scheme: Black, White, Red and Gray. Second, we both chose a sentiment stamp that says, “Love You.”
We both used the small retired heart punch for accents, and I enhanced my black dragonflies die cut with Wink of Stella Glitter Brush (gold) while Sherry added some fine glitter to her little black heart. While I used the watercolor swashes stamps from the Work of Art set as a background, Sherry actually water-colored a free-hand heart as her central motif.
So how cool is that? Sherry and I live on opposite sides of the country, and we only get to stamp together once a year. But somehow, we were both on the same wavelength while producing our Valentine cards this year!
Here are the colors that Sherry and I used on our cards:
And here are some of the products that we used:
I love both cards. I like the use of grey to soften the contrast of the other colours. It is funny how this kind of coincidence happens, isn’t it?!
Yes, it’s always a happy surprise!
Absolutely great cards! I always learn something from seeing what you have done!
Thank you, Suzanne! I’m glad that I’m posting some helpful information here. I hope all is well with you!
Beautiful cards. TFS Sherry’s card. What a coincidence that is! Love the colour combo.
Take care, Flo x
Thanks, Flo; yes, it was a good surprise!
