We Did It – Thank You Take Ten!

By | May 30, 2015

I got an intriguing voice mail from my sister-in-law Sherry the other day; I was out grocery shopping and I heard this: “Val, I just left a message on your home phone… I’ve got very good news… call me!” I figured this must have to do with stamping, so I called her right back and she could hardly contain her excitement when she told me that we had finally achieved a goal we had been working toward for a year – we both got our cards published in the same issue of  Stampington & Company’s Take Ten magazine!

Here is Sherry’s beautiful card on page 41:

And here is one of my cards on page 85:

I also had this card included on page 26:

TakeTenSummer2015-2The best part about having this card published is that they also highlighted it in the “A Second Take” section in the back, where they spotlight different techniques or unique embellishments. Yay! Another goal accomplished!

Sherry and I are so excited about being published together; we have sent other cards in for consideration and will continue to do more in the future. Working with challenges and layouts is a way to stretch our creative vision, and it is always a happy surprise to receive that Complimentary Artist’s copy of the magazine in the mail. Sherry and I also live 3,000 miles apart and it is another way for us to stay connected as we confer and share with each other over our submissions. Thank you again, Take Ten!

Thank you, Sarah, and what a good idea – we had never thought of doing a submission together for Variation on a Theme or even With One Stamp. Now we’ll have to get back to the drawing board!

Congratulations on being published in Take Ten! It is so interesting that you are connecting with your sister-in-law through stamping. Crafting has a way of connecting people no matter where they are. I’ve made it a personal mission to send a handmade card at Christmas to each of my relatives that live out of state as a way of saying I’m still thinking of them. I hope you and your sister-in-law continue to submit together to Take Ten, perhaps even doing a group submission for Variation on a Theme. It would be interesting to see how you could create a theme together, even though you are 3,000 miles apart.
