You Soar Above the Rest!

By | February 10, 2017

Happy 27th birthday to our friend, Jamai – February 10th! I wanted to make a special card for my daughter’s boyfriend, so I chose to make another hot air balloon, this time with brighter colors and a couple of rubber stamped images of smaller balloons from the Lift Me Up stamp set, featured on page 10 of the Spring Occasions Catalog.

While I chose softer colors the last time I made this die cut balloon from the Up & Away Thinlits Dies, I really like these bright primary colors, outlined in Basic Black cardstock for an even more dramatic look. There are different sections in the die set to cut out 5 color panels – just tape them together on the back, then glue them to the die cut balloon on the front:

Jamai said that this was the best birthday card he’s received – and that’s the point of making our own, isn’t it? Doing something a little extra for the special people in our life!

Here are links to all of the products used to make this fun card:

Now here’s a tip: Save your scraps! All of the little color sections that I glued behind the balloon die cut were made from just small pieces of saved cardstock. Use what you have; it doesn’t really matter what colors you choose; just make sure that you pick a couple of coordinating ink colors for the smaller stamped balloons.

I have to say I am loving this set of stamps and dies. This is a super example of how they can be used. I love the colour choice too. Also, Happy Birthday Jamai!
